The Medical Faculty of the University of Münster has an open position for a

Full University Professor for Medical Biochemistry (W3)

at the Center for Molecular Biology of Inflammation (ZMBE), which comprises five institutes (Cell Biology, Experimental Pathology, Infectiology, Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Virology) and associated junior research groups. The ZMBE is a joint institution of the Faculties of Medicine, Biology and Chemistry/Pharmacy. The professorship is associated with the directorship of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry.

The holder of the position should fully represent the topic with respect to research and teaching and should have an internationally recognized research profile in molecular and cellular life sciences, with a focus on biochemical principles related to inflammatory or infection processes.

The holder of the position is expected to establish an independent research program, to closely interact with other research groups at the ZMBE (http://zmbe.uni-muenster.de) and to cooperate with research programs of the university, in particular the Cells in Motion Interfaculty Center (CiMIC; https://www.uni-muenster.de/Cells-in-Motion), the Interdisciplinary Clinical Research Center (IZKF), local Collaborative Research Centers (‘Sonderforschungsbereiche‘, SFBs), Research Groups (‘Forschergruppen‘) and Graduate Schools, and with groups at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Biomedicine.

Prerequisites for this position are scientific achievements gained within a junior professorship, habilitation or position as research scientist at a University/school of higher education or a non- University institution or in connection with an academic activity in business, industry, administration or other social area, either in Germany or abroad. Further prerequisites are stated in § 36 of legal regulations of the higher education act (Hochschulgesetz).
