The project focuses on structural analysis of pore forming toxins and their interaction with presynaptic receptors. A genuine interest in cryo electron microscopy (single particle analysis and cryo electron tomography) of transmembrane proteins is essential. The projects are linked to interdisciplinary CRC 1348 consortium combining world-class expertise in cellular biology and imaging and associated with the structured integrated graduate programme.

The prospective holder of the position will be working in the research group of Prof. Dr. Gatsogiannis at the Center for Soft Nanoscience, Institute of Medical Physics and Biophysics.

We offer a modern, international working environment, where talented and self-motivated students will find excellent opportunities to develop and pursue their personal scientific ideas.

Your profile:

You are an enthusiastic, ambitious scientist who wants to work in an interdisciplinary, international young and motivated team. You have a recent diploma or master degree in biochemistry or a similar biomedical discipline. Prior experimental experience in protein biochemistry and cell culture is expected. Experience in cell biology, electron and fluorescence microscopy is also welcome, but not required. A keen interest to learn these topics, however, is necessary. Good English and communication skills, as well as an interest in different scientific fields are needed due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project and the group.

For any questions, please contact Prof. Dr. Christos Gatsogiannis, christos.gatsogiannis(at)uni-muenster(dot)de.

Please send your application in a single pdf file (including CV, cover letter, a current resume with academic transcripts and at least one professional reference) with the reference number until 09.02.2022 to bewerbung(at)ukmuenster(dot)de.

Applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of similar qualifications, competence, and specific achievements, women will be considered on preferential terms within the framework of the legal possibilities. Handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.
