The entire spectrum of neurological diseases is treated in the Department of Neurology with a strong clinical focus on immune-mediated diseases of the nervous system. Overall, research in our department combines basic animal models and patient-derived specimen with cutting-edge technologies. One focus of the research group of PD Dr. Dr. Stjepana Kovac in the Department of Neurology has been to elucidate mechanisms of disease progression in autoimmune encephalitis.
We are now looking for a highly motivated PhD student to extend our interdisciplinary team. The applicant will study the impact on autoantibodies on human neuronal tissue within the Neuroimmunology lab of the Department of Neurology as part of the established research group of PD Dr. Dr. Kovac. In addition to live cell imaging techniques, the focus will be on relevant immunological methods and human tissue culture.
- Molecular biology and basic cell culture techniques
- Immunohistochemistry and/or RNA in-situ hybridization
- High degree of motivation, willingness to learn and team spirit
- Strong sense of responsibility, organizational skills, high reliability and flexibility
- Versatile and challenging as well as responsible job in a committed scientific team
- Active participation in shaping your field of activity in a modern laboratory
- Training in state-of-the-art techniques such as single cell RNA sequencing
